Epiphania Visuals is an A-Spec queer space for artists, activists and researchers that promotes exhibitions, art curation and filmmaking as research tools. It believes that the best way to build a non-violent movement is through a cultural movement. Their work is not bound only by gender, sexuality, asexuality in the contexts of Asian culture.
One of their major initiatives is to establish communication between dialogue and visuals through creative initiatives the “Asian Network of ACE Queer Activists” (ANOAQA). Ace* artists do not have a visible platform to showcase their talents. By establishing the Asian A-Spec queer network of creatives asexual voices can be positively promoted. Epiphania Visuals claim that queer art is one of the most democratic ‘journals’ in the artworld.
Queer art has never been confined to the established norms of high art allowing many artists to be freed from the traditional structures of art history with curation as an effective place to create and provoke questioning.
Founder, Dipa Mahbuba Yasmin, considers herself fortunate enough to have established the world's first A-Spec queer art gallery with a mission to question concepts such as compulsory sexuality and amatonormativity* of queer art. With an aim to create a new language of working with asexual and aromantic queer activist and artists and to archive the contemporary Ace, Aro*, and queer scenes. Epiphania Visuals believe that a new language of activism can and must be found through this contemporary movement.
